Instructional Delivery Methods
ASYNCHRONOUS courses are offered online only, and can be taken at your convenience, anywhere you have internet access. These courses offer the most flexibility if you work full-time or have a busy schedule. Instructors are available via email, Zoom, and in-course messaging. Students will be expected to meet deadlines for assignments at various points throughout the semester.

No, all classes will be in a virtual environment.
Are there scheduled class meeting times?
No, these classes do not have regularly scheduled dates and times for students to log in. On the first day of the semester, log in to Canvas to access your course and complete your work independently.

SYNCHRONOUS courses are offered online, at SPECIFIC DAYS and TIMES, anywhere you have internet access. These courses offer increased peer and instructor interaction during the scheduled section. Instructors are available via email, and in-course messaging, ZOOM, and during your course. A reliable internet connection is important for the best experience.

FACE-TO-FACE (FTF), courses are our traditional, in-person classes which take place on-campus, in a classroom with other students and instructors present. Courses listed as Face-to-Face will be offered at the dates, times and locations listed in the course schedule. These courses are appropriate for students who learn best in a classroom setting, and enjoy interacting in-person with their instructors and peers.

HYBRID courses offer a mix of online and face-to-face instruction. These courses include traditional face-to-face classroom and online learning activities and participation. Hybrid courses have physical campus locations for the on-campus component; have start and end dates; and have specific meeting days and times.

Yes, some on-campus instruction or activity is mandatory for these courses, in order to meet requirements that can’t be fulfilled remotely.

How will these classes appear in Student Planning/Self-Service?
Course Type: HY Hybrid 50% Online 50% Classroom
Meeting Information: Look for the location, dates, and times of your course in this area.
HY-FLEX courses are a new option. Courses listed as HY-FLEX will be live-streamed when in face-to-face mode. Students in HY-FLEX courses may choose to either attend in-person to participate in the classroom, OR they may stay home and view the live-stream (at the scheduled time) or recording of that day’s class (at a later time). In other words, students can participate in this course face to face, synchronously, or asynchronously, or any combination of the three modalities. This allows students to choose the instructional delivery method that works best for them. These courses are appropriate for students who have the flexibility and comfort level to move between in-person and online learning during a semester. A reliable internet connection is important for the best experience.
Will students be meeting on campus?
It’s up to the student! If a student wishes, they may attend as they would a face-to-face offering on campus – sometimes or always.
Are there scheduled class meeting times?
Yes, these classes do have specific meeting days and times where you can expect to come to campus, or log on to the live-stream if you choose to do so. If you’re unavailable during that time, a recording of the day’s lecture will also be made available for asynchronous access.
