What impact did your experience at Chesapeake College have on your life? Attending Chesapeake College allowed me to build on the Bachelor’s Degree I had earned at a four year school to gain teacher certification. The class instructors, content and rigor were comparable to those at the university. The flexibility in class schedule permitted me to continue with my professional work schedule while growing as an educator. This exceptional post-secondary schooling allowed me to pursue my passion for teaching – a career that I continue to cherish.

How are you serving your community in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic? I am working with the teachers and other staff at my school to help our students continue to feel successful and connected with their school community.  With this, student work completion comes second to social-emotional needs. There has been an increase in our contact with parents and caregivers. Never before in my career has the relationship between home and school been more important.

How did your experience at Chesapeake College prepare you for your current career?  Chesapeake College served as a bridge between my initial college experience and my “perfect” career fit. I feel very fortunate to go to work and pursue my passion each day.

What has been your most rewarding professional achievement/experience since graduating from Chesapeake College?  A very rewarding personal professional achievement is earning my doctorate in Educational Leadership and having the opportunity to serve my community as a school principal.  Above all rewards, however, is watching my students accomplish their goals and become world changers.

What advice would you like to give to current or prospective Chesapeake College students?  Turn your passion into a career.
