CNA Orientation Session
December 12 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
| freeIt is recommended that prospective allied health students attend an information session prior to registration for the Certified Nursing Assistant program. Attend an orientation session and learn about Chesapeake’s Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program and Certified Medicine Aide (CMA) Program.
Our CNA program will prepare you to apply for MD State certification as both a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and a Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA). Nursing Assistants work under the supervision of an RN or LPN. The CNA’s or GNA’s primary duties are assisting with activities of daily living. Additional responsibilities involve performing basic nursing skills.
Students who wish to add to their CNA/GNA credential can pursue the Certified Medicine Aide Program at Chesapeake. CMAs who have at least one year of experience as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) and currently employed in a long-term healthcare facility recognized by the State of MD can earn the Certified Medicine Aide (CMA) designation. Join an orientation session to learn more.
Please attend the earliest date possible, as this should be your first step in the admission process. It is important to start the process early as there are several steps to complete before being accepted into the program. Contact [email protected] for more information.
Sessions will be held via Zoom. Allied Health staff will provide detailed information on training requirements (including criminal background checks and drug screens), prerequisites, reading comprehension placement tests, course content, criteria for course completion and resources for financial assistance. Orientations are free and open to the public. Pre-registration is required.
