This continuing education course is the second in a two-part series which teaches students how to use photography to capture everyday life. Topics include discussions about the mechanisms and optics of a digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera, advanced editing techniques, exposure and lighting, composition and depth of field, and how to apply skills to different photo scenarios as a way to take pro-like photos. Students must provide their own DSLR camera.

Caroline J. Phillips is a freelance photographer and filmmaker living in Kent Island, Maryland. When she’s not taking photos, she’s making videos for local businesses and brands. Inspired by the colors and landscape of the Eastern Shore, she loves communicating regional stories through photos and video. She has been teaching photography courses at Chesapeake since 2019.
INSTANT UKULELE
This continuing education course is designed for adults wishing to quickly learn how to play popular songs on the ukulele using the Celtic-tuning method. Topics include Ukulele structure, holding position, tuning techniques, note location, chords, strumming, and finger picking patterns. Left hand nails need to be trimmed before the first class. INSTRUCTOR SPOTLIGHT: CAKE DECORATING
Karen Callahan grew up in a family of cake decorators; her mom and aunt decorated cakes as well. Karen completed Wilton Beginner and Advanced Cake Decorating classes, and started decorating cakes professionally in 1990 and teaching cake decorating at Chesapeake in 2000. Through Karen’s instruction, students will learn how to bake and decorate the perfect cake. Instruction includes making icing, icing consistency, decorating techniques, making roses, and how to draw designs on a cake.

Enhance your meal with simple yet elegant sauces! Let our chef demonstrate a variety of sauces that can be made quickly and easily. Sauces add flavor, texture, color, and moisture to food. INSTRUCTOR SPOTLIGHT: YOGA
Instructor Rose Spik has been studying, practicing and teaching yoga for 17 years. She completed her 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher training at Ridgely Retreat in Annapolis and is a graduate of the Bare Bones Anatomy Blueprint Learning Program. With a focus on yoga for everyone, classes will combine breath work, postures and guided meditation in a safe and comfortable setting. All levels are welcome to join join the class, where they will easily flow from pose to pose with confidence, strength and mindfulness.
