MARINE SERVICE TECHNICIAN PROGRAM
Whether you are a boat enthusiast, work in the marine industry, or are ready to begin a new career, our instructors will teach you to install, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair a wide range of marine equipment and systems. Learn in our dedicated marine trades labs with industry experts, then put your skills to work on the water as a Yamaha Certified Technician, Basic Marine Electronics Installer (MEI), or American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC). ENTRY LEVEL MARINE SERVICE TECH
This continuing education course is designed to enable students an Entry Level Certification as a Marine Service Technician. This course is ideal for those interested in pursuing a career in the marine service industry. The course is designed for students that may not have any prior knowledge of boats or marine systems. Topics include; boat handling, safety, diesel engines, outboard engines, inboard gas engines, boat trailers, drive systems, marine electronics, plumbing, marine construction materials, customer service. Students have the opportunity to obtain industry-recognized certification from American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC).

NMEA BASIC MARINE ELECTRONICS INSTALLER
This continuing education course is designed to review content and deliver the National Marine Electronics Association's (NMEA) Basic Marine Electronics Installer (MEI) exam. This introductory course is designed for marine electronic installers, electricians, mechanics, riggers, etc. Topics include Ohm's law, grounds, battery and battery chargers, DC wiring, EMI, coaxial cables, antennas, AIS, marine VHF radios, transducers, radar, heading sensors, and NMEA data interfacing. An MEI certificate is an indication of working knowledge of NMEA's Installation Standard. A Marine Electronics Installer has demonstrated this proficiency by passing an examination designed to measure understanding of those principles.

NMEA 2000 INSTALLER
This continuing education course is designed to enable students to gain an understanding of the theory and function of auxiliary systems found on boats. This course is ideal for those interested in pursuing employment in the marine service industry. Topics include electrical theory, installation and troubleshooting of basic marine electronics, common marine materials and composites, plumbing, and general boat maintenance/service practices. Students have the opportunity to obtain industry-recognized certification from the National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA).

PORTABLE OUTBOARD ENGINE SERVICE
This continuing education course is designed to facilitate students' mastery of the maintenance tasks associated with the portable outboard engines per the required service intervals for 20 to 1000 hours of engine operation. Instruction centers around the Yamaha F9.9B/T9.9B outboard engine platform. Topics include service literature, tools, maintenance charts, powerheads, lower units/midsection, propellers, and fuel systems.
PREREQUISITES: Introduction to Marine Engine Systems (CET 378)

MASTER CAPTAIN’S LICENSE UPGRADE
This is a US Coast Guard approved course for those who wish to upgrade their existing OUPV to a Master level license. Depending on the student's experience on the water, the Master's license is issued as a 25, 50 or 100-ton license. The Master level license is required to operate an inspected vessel that carries seven or more paying passengers. The course includes 20 modules that include cargo handling, principles of ship construction, stability, rules and regulations for crew and passenger safety, vessel alteration, on board safety drills, lifesaving equipment requirements and operation and collision at sea prevention regulations.

ASSISTANCE TOWING ENDORSEMENT
This is a US Coast Guard approved course intended to prepare students to successfully demonstrate the knowledge required to pass the CG Assistance Towing Endorsement Exam. The course covers towing safety, forces in towing, equipment, towing procedures, and precautions.

BOATER'S SAFETY
Boat Maryland is a boating certificate class that offers an in-depth and interesting boating safety course, and provides the knowledge needed to obtain a boating certificate. Topics include: introduction to boating, boating law, safety equipment, safe operation and navigation, boating emergencies, trailering, sports and boating. Some insurance companies will also offer discounts on boating insurance to boaters who successfully complete this course. Courses are taught by certified instructors from the USCG Auxiliary Easton Flotilla.
