Their varied backgrounds and worldviews ensure that every student can find a tutor they connect with, creating a meaningful and personalized learning experience.

  • Peer Tutors
Peer tutors are current students who have been recommended by Chesapeake faculty for their academic performance, communication skills, and ability to mentor others. They are trained to help students understand key course concepts, develop critical problem-solving skills, and learn effective study techniques. Peer tutors are approachable and well-versed in their subject areas, making them a valuable resource for fellow students. If you are a student interested in becoming a peer tutor, you can apply here.
  • Professional Tutors
Our professional tutors include retired teachers, professionals, and subject matter experts with years of experience. They are equipped to provide specialized assistance in a wide range of subjects, from writing and science to math and technology, ensuring that students receive expert guidance.
Writing tutors are available to assist with all types of writing assignments, regardless of discipline. Whether you need help brainstorming ideas, organizing your thoughts, revising drafts, or finalizing a paper, writing tutors offer guidance at every stage of the process. They can also help with specialized writing tasks like resumes, application letters, and appeals.

For in-depth help in specific subjects, students can schedule one-on-one or small group appointments with content-area tutors. These sessions are typically 50 minutes long and focus on the subject you need the most help with, from math and science to business and technology.

If you prefer online or remote support, you can schedule sessions with remote tutors who hold synchronous, real-time appointments via Zoom or phone. These remote sessions provide the same personalized support, no matter where you are. To schedule, use the MyCampus portal or contact the ASC for assistance.

For more immediate help, drop-in tutoring is available at designated times throughout the semester. These sessions don’t require an appointment and typically involve small groups, allowing you to get support on a flexible, walk-in basis.
Some courses offer embedded tutors who work directly within the classroom, lab, or online through Canvas. These tutors collaborate with faculty to support students by offering additional help throughout the course. Even outside of class, embedded tutors are available for further guidance and can be contacted for support.
