Our overnight weekend adventures take both faculty and honors students off campus for an opportunity to relax and learn in a fun environment. Our retreats have included kayaking at Wye Island, rock-wall climbing at a nearby challenge course, and camping and whitewater rafting in Harper’s Ferry, and an overnight in Washington DC, touring and taking advantage of the many resources there.
Each semester the Honors Council, in cooperation with various clubs and departments across the Chesapeake College campus, sponsors two or more events or symposia on campus. These events, often attended by local citizens as well as faculty, staff, and students, are a resource for all classes and the entire community.
Premiering in March 2003, the first symposium featured a variety of speakers offering insights into the situation in Iraq, just one week before the war began. Others have covered topics from bird flu to global warming.
